Rules and Guidelines

Welcome to the Outlaws Hockey Club.  I'm looking forward to all of the kids having a great time this summer.  This letter is to inform all participants of what is expected of them while on and off the ice during the sessions.

The ice time is mostly for the boys to have fun and hone their skills during the summer months.  There will be drills for about two thirds of the practice and the rest will allow them to just play hockey and have fun.  Most of the time, I'll have others on the ice acting as officials.  They will make calls similar to game situations.  Please respect their judgment.  We want the boys to have fun, but also to learn the rules of the game.

This is not a tryout or an actual game.  With that in mind, the following rules apply to everyone involved in the program.

  1. Players will listen to the coaches while they are talking.  In every situation, the coach's word is final.

  2. As we are playing by Squirt rules, there's no checking allowed.  Penalties will be called and the victim will receive a penalty shot.  The offending player will sit in the penalty box for at least 2 minutes, more if it is deemed appropriate.

  3. NO FIGHTING !  Anyone involved in a fight will be asked to leave the session immediately.

  4. There is to be no horseplay on the benches or in drill lines while waiting for your turn to skate.

  5. Please do not question why an official did or did not call a penalty or an offside.  Some of the people we have officiating are also learning.

  6. All players must wear all required equipment.

  7. All players must have their parents sign a liability waiver before they can play.

  8. Players will be asked to play different positions during the summer.  If they'd like to try goalie -- that's OK too !

In every camp, practice, and game I've been associated with, there are always incidents that someone is not happy about.  We will attempt to be as fair as possible so please to be understanding.  The STAR Program rules of USA Hockey will be enforced for all involved.  Thanks for your cooperation and support.
